3 Reasons to Use Polyurethane Forklift Tyres

If you use the right type of tyre on your forklifts, then you get optimum performance and value for money. Polyurethane tyres are a good option here. Read on to learn why.

1. Less Chance of Damage

If forklift tyres get damaged, then you have to take the machine out of commission to fix the tyre or replace it. If your forklifts work in rough or uneven environments, then some tyres will damage more easily than others. For example, rubber tyres can wear down. They can suffer from abrasion problems and cuts. If your machines come into contact with chemicals, then these chemicals can corrode the rubber.

Polyurethane tyres are more resilient to wear, cuts and scrapes. They cope with chemical contact more effectively. So, your tyres will last longer without getting damaged.

2. Better Load-Bearing Capacity

Your tyres have to bear the weight of your forklift and its load. If you use electric machines then their heavy batteries add to this burden. Some tyres don't bear weight effectively for long periods of use. Even if you keep within their carry limits, they can suffer. For example, rubber tyres might wear and pneumatic tyres might puncture.

Polyurethane tyres can typically carry heavier loads more effectively than other alternatives. They have a higher tensile strength. This tensile strength gives them the capacity to carry heavier weights without breaking, splitting or flattening under the strain. So, you can load your forklifts with more confidence. You don't need to split heavier loads into different trips.

3. Lower Energy Depletion

If you use electric forklifts, then you want each charge to last for as long as possible. If you have to charge a machine during the working day, you lose key working capacity.

Some tyres use up more charged power than others. For example, heavier tyres create a drag that makes the forklift work harder. They might have high rolling resistance which also uses up more energy.

Polyurethane tyres are lighter than the norm. They have a lower rolling resistance. This means that they don't need to use as much energy to keep moving at the right speed. So, polyurethane tires put less pressure on your charge. Your forklifts will work for longer between charges without using up as much power.
